Original Question

I have been a nurse for over a decade and worked in the ER for over 8 years but it was mainly adults though I got pediatrics occasionally. I love pediatrics but felt pediatric nursing is much more difficult than other types of nursing due to the age and care that these young patients need. My strengths are my attention to detail especially with med pass because everything is weight-based. Therefore, I make sure I get a very accurate weight because that guides all their dosing in the ER and also if they have to be admitted. I make sure to triple-check all my calculations and I check the dose even if the pharmacy does it. Another strength is communication skills – I believe that learning to communicate effectively with parents is a crucial skill for anyone working with pediatrics. Another strength is patience – For me, personally, I am a very patient person and I feel like this is a skill that anyone providing care to children should learn. Question: Write a brief introduction of yourself that includes an explanation of your strengths and challenges as they apply to pediatrics and the role of a Family Nurse Practitioner. Also explain your career goals and objectives, and how your work in this course can help to accomplish those goals and objectives as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Use your research to support your explanations by providing credible and scholarly sources.
