Margie’s husband Ted died over 20 years ago and Margie has been quite independent since that time. Margie is still fairly active although showing down a little because of arthritis and only uses a walking stick for support when mobilising. She still prepares her own meals but does require some support with vacuuming, mopping and grocery shopping. Each Wednesday you spend 3 hours with Margie providing support in these areas. When you arrive today to provide this support, Margie greets you at the door and as you follow her into the house, you notice that he is limping on her left leg. When you inquire about this she tells you that she bumped her leg on the side pf the footstool a couple pf days ago and ‘cut the skin a bit’. When Margie takes the bandage and tissue off her leg, there is a corner skin tear of approximately 2 cm on the outer aspect of her left leg. The skin around the wound is red, hot and slightly swollen, and there is a small amount of creamy coloured ooze. Margie said that it has been paining a bit, particularly when she walls on it. Instruction for the role play You are required to play arriving at Margie’s house to assist with some housework and the grocery shopping, and the conversation that you have with Margie as well as following the given role play you will need to demonstrate what you would say and do next after Margie shows you the wound on her leg.
