Original Question
Respond to this information as a peer in 6 lines, I will be discussing the major group of herpes virus or herpesviridae. This virus is divided into three groups: Alphaherpesvirinae, Betaherpesvirinae, and Gammaherpesvirinae. The disease I will choose to write about is herpes simplex virus 2 or HSV-2. Some of the signs and symptoms of HSV-2 include fever, body aches, sore throat (oral herpes), headache, and swollen lymph nodes (WHO, 2024). Bumps, blisters, or open sores/ulcers are also physical appearances for HSV-2. Although, herpes doesn’t typically have outward signs or symptoms for most people with it. The transmission for the virus is transmitted during sex via contact with genital or anal surfaces. It can be transmitted when there are open sores or from the fluids of someone with HSV-2. In rare cases, HSV-2 can be transmitted through childbirth and is called neonatal herpes. Treatment for HSV-2 includes taking a warm bath, loose clothing, and pain medications. Antiviral medications like acyclovir, famciclovir, and valacyclovir (WHO, 2024). These medications are usually recommended for people who have presenting and recurring symptoms. It is suppressive therapy which can make it easier to live with herpes simplex virus.
