The way I can assist would be to follow proper precautions like handwashing , using proper PPE like gloves, gown and a mask, that creates a barrier between me and the hazardous material. By making sure the area we will be in is sterile, that instruments are sterile before use. I would make sure to continue education on training on the latest protocols on infection controls. I would also monitor the patient to make sure the surgical site is not showing infection, redness, or discharge. The only experience I have was not that the wound wouldn’t heal, but that I healed the wound for my father in law. When we found out my father in law had cancer, we went to Arizona to get him to bring him back to Washington so I could take care of him and so he could spend his remaining time with his family and grandkids.
