Respond to discussion: Hi class! My name is Samantha Schaffer. I am from the very corner of northeastern Colorado. Pretty much in Nebraska. We are referred to as “Coloraskins”. I have a husband and three children, ages ten, ten, and five. We like to do family outings together like camping, fishing, taking walks, and doing different activities and art projects outside during the summer. In the winter months, I am more of a home body. I do not like the cold so I do not typically like to go outside. We have been skiing a few times, which my husband and children love to do but I would rather be inside in front of the fire! We are also very much of a movie family. Movie and game nights are big in our house. I am working towards my bachelor’s degree in medical coding. I am taking this course as one of the required courses for my intended degree. I am hoping to learn more about financial management and healthcare delivery systems as well as budgets and decision-making techniques to produce a budget. I struggled in my statistics course last semester. Math is my weakest point so I am a little concerned about how much math is included in this course. I plan on doing a lot of reading and my own research as well as asking plenty of questions as needed to help me overcome any obstacles that I may face during this course. As stated in the syllabus, I expect to gain knowledge about how to analyze human resource strategies for organizational best practices and to identify data driven performance. I also hope to interact with other classmates and get their perspective on different topics. I hope everyone has a good semester and at the end of this course, we all have a good understanding of human resources and financial management in healthcare!
