The EPIC health record has a Code Narrator option within it’s system which allows for real time charting of code blue events, medication ordering and also provides an active timer set to go off every 2 minutes when the code blue is activated within the system. During implementation the plan is to have the nurse in the recorder role use the code navigator to accurately chart code blue events. The second technology resource we will use is the Lippincott Procedures database. Access to this database will be provided to each nurse, which provides a detailed explanation of the evidence-based procedure for adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation and a list of roles required for the procedures and their responsibilities. Nurses will then learn the roles and responsibilities during code blue events from this database because studies have shown that healthcare facilities that use the database increase clinical processes of care scores thus leading to improved patient outcomes throughout the facility (Walters Kluwer, 2018).
