Mr. Nugent is a full code status (needs to be resuscitated if he should have a cardiac or respiratory arrest), and he is allergic to peanuts. He was admitted to the medical unit where you work as an RPN, for a course of IV antibiotics, and you are assigned to care for him. Today when you assess Mr. Nugent you notice that the back of his leg is firm and red. He is complaining of pain 9/10 in this area and he has a fever of 38.7 degrees Celsius. You need to call the medical doctor, Dr. Smithers and update him on Mr. Nugent’s current condition. 2. Her vital signs are stable, her skin intact and her daughter has been notified of her admission to hospital. Surgery is a possibility for the morning but the surgeon has yet to confirm this. The night staff will have to follow up with the surgeon and inform the daughter once a decision has been made.
