PRINCIPAL OR FINAL DIAGNOSIS: Early onset scoliosis- progressive SECONDARY DIAGNOSES: None HISTORY OF PRESENT ILLNESS: is a 9 year old male with progressive early onset scoliosis. Heunderwent serial Risser casting and TLSO bracing for a number of years. His curve continued to progress.HOSPITAL COURSE: Pt underwent bilateral VEPTR placement from Ribs to L2,3. He tolerated the procedurewell and was transferred to the floor in a stable condition. On POD1, pt was tachycardic, tachypneic andrequired 8L O2. PICU team was consulted and a rapid response was called. CXR demonstrated atelectasisand on further evaluation his symptoms were likely secondary to pain. Once his pain was better controlled,respiratory therapy worked with him and his symptoms gradually resolved. On POD3, fevers and diarrhea werenoted. Work up included urine cx, stool cx which were negative. By POD5, fevers and diarrhea had resolved,his pain was well controlled with PO meds, he was tolerating a regular diet, was sat’ing well on room air, andwas ready for discharge.
