Original Question

All precautions, set-up, and preparation of the patient for use with the CO2 laser were taken prior to initiation of the procedure. The anterior commissure laryngoscope was entered into the oral cavity and passed down to the level of the vocal cords. It was placed into position using the Lewy suspension. The polyp on the left vocal cord was immediately visible. There was a small polyp on the left false vocal cord as well. The right true vocal cord had a small polyp in the very anterior-most region near the anterior commissure. A biopsy of these was taken and sent to Pathology. Grossly, these definitely appeared to be papillomas. CO2 laser was used to carefully excise the papillomas without injuring the vocal cords themselves. Hemostasis was achieved with Afrin-soaked cottonoids. Signed Surgeon Signature 31546 31540 31545 31541
