Original Question

please reward this write up. Personal Health records gives users the leverage of being able to electronically view, collect, track, and share their past and current health information or that of someone they looked after. However, it has its own pros and cons. The pros of PHR are, it can be used in organizing healthcare-related data as diseases, medications, allergies, and contact information of patient’s primary care provider. This tool is secured and only individuals with access codes can see their information, which promotes transparency, confidentiality, and trust between health care providers and patients. Patient can access their health records electronically from anywhere at any time. Howbeit, PHR also has its own disadvantages. This involves limited access to some information as in the case study given above. The 65-year-old woman was unable to access some part of her laboratory results because her lab work was performed in laboratories that are not connected to her physician’s office organization. Since there are limited data shown in the PHR, this woman cannot monitor her condition as she would have if she was able to see all her lab results. Also, being able to see all her information would have improve engagement, empower her to be in more control of her health, comply with treatment, and promote quality healthcare.
