He presents with left-sided facial droop, mild-moderately decreased labial and lingual strength and ROM. His speech is slurred and overall intelligibility is fair. Cognitive and linguistic skills are within normal limits. During your clinical bedside evaluation of swallowing, you have noticed that he has significant drooling, anterior spillage of liquids on the left side and significant difficulty chewing his regular solid food. Upon palpation, his hyolaryngeal elevation appears decreased. After each swallow of thin liquids, his voice becomes wet and gurgly.
