Observation Project Observation Assignment: Chp 2 Select a child to observe. Conduct a running record observation assessment on the child. The observation time should be approximately 15 minutes. Running records are one type of narrative assessment. When doing the assessment, stay focused just on what you see and hear from the child. Do not include any judgement while recording what you see and hear. After you have observed the child, you will be able to respond to the observation, the child’s development (assessment), and extension suggestions. Use the observation form provided. This form is divided into three main sections: Observation, Assessment, and Extension.
