ndications For Procedure: A 70-year-old male with a recently discovered left hilar mass, probable left upper lobe and lingula. No clinical symptoms except a long history of COPD. Has not smoked in 12 years. Bronchoscopy to be done for evaluation. Pre-Procedure Diagnosis: Rule out carcinoma of left lung Post-Procedure Diagnosis: Same Anesthesia: Topical Cetacaine, and Cyclaine Procedure Performed: Flexible Bronchoscopy Findings: After induction of satisfactory anesthesia, the flexible bronchoscope was introduced. There were normal appearing cords, which moved normally. The carina was midline and sharp. The entire right side was examined and was within normal limits. On the left side, there were some bronchitic changes in the left upper lobe region, no question of narrowing, and there was no sign of any tumor. Washings were obtained from the entire left side, including the left upper lobe, for cytology and culture. The bronchoscope was removed.
