Original Question

I would say that a cycle that does impact me would be my circadian rhythm/sleep cycle. This cycle is pretty important to me because it more often than not gets disturbed which causes interference with other important cycles going on. I find that around this time in the year my sleep cycle is thrown off because of daylight savings and making the “days longer”. “A two-hour advance in their internal biological night,” meaning they fell asleep and woke up earlier — synced with sunset and sunrise (Wright et al., 2013, Current Biology). For me, when sunset is much later in the day, I tend to go to bed much later and still wake up at sunrise which is much earlier during the summer time. I find myself getting less sleep in the summer time compared to the winter time because of how natural light affects your circadian rhythm and sleep cycle. When my sleep cycle is interfered with it changes the functions of all of the other cycles that are going on. I always feel like I can’t do everything as effectively or efficiently as I normally could the following day when my sleep cycle has been disrupted. My digestion, cognition, and even reflexes all feel slowed down in some sort of way. This can have a trickle down effect, where because one system is slowed down another will be impacted and slow down as well. write one positive comment and a question
