Original Question

I need a response to this passage please 1. What does it mean if a client is admitted to the hospital voluntarily versus involuntarily? When a patient is voluntarily being admitted to the hospital, this means the patient is willingly coming into the facility knowing that whatever period of them they have to spend within the facility, they are ok with it. The patient also possesses the right to sign out of the hospital at any given time (Townsend and Morgan 2020). If a patient wants to leave but is deemed dangerous to self, to others or both, this now turns into an involuntary admission (Townsend and Morgan 2020). There must be true evidence as to why the patient must be held in the facility against their own will (Townsend and Morgan 2020). 2.Are mentally ill clients more violent than the general population? In my opinion mentally ill patient are not more violent than the general population. Those that are mentally ill, may be facing other issues and struggles within their day to day lives such as past experiences, or surrounding that are factors that can lead to anger or violence (DeAngelis 2021). 3. Describe appropriate nursing care for a client who is in restraints: There are several key things to remember when dealing with a patient in restraints including ensuring that there is an order for the restraints. Knowledge on how to put on the restraints so that it is not restricting blood flow or doing any damage or harm to the patient. Ensuring that you document when the restraints went on, and continuous documentation throughout. When the patient is more stable and orientated, discontinuation of the restraints is important. 4. What are some instances where restraints should never be used? Restraints should not be used as a disciplinary action or seclude or lock the patient in the room. Restraints should also not be used without a doctor’s order. \
