Original Question

Developing a Logic Model Outline Identifying Problems Describe at least one common client problem, issue, or gap in services or programs at your field agency, practice, or community setting. One gap in an agency such as Greater Minnesota is that clinicians may not be able to address the mental health of such a wide age range. When I was doing my field placement, the person that I was shadowing was able to do the assessments on the preschool-age children, but she was not yet trained or certified on the older children, so she had to have her supervisor participate in the assessments. This was a problem, as when we went to go to do the assessment, we had everything lined up, and the family did not know anything about it. We were sure to verify that they were available at that time. So, we were going to have to reschedule, and we were going to have to line it up with everyone again. Specifically, highlight what you see that tells you clients need something more than what the agency, practice, or community setting is offering. As stated before, I have experienced it personally when a clinician was not capable of working with the age group that they were assigned. It is particularly important that adolescents have trained clinicians and can actually do all the assessments that are required. Also, they are aware of the developmental milestones and what their emotional regulations would be. They would also be able to communicate and provide the therapeutic approaches that are appropriate for the adolescent age group. So, both parents and clinicians would benefit from an evaluation of the intervention (Dudley, 2020). Identify a program that you think is necessary to address the problem, issue, or gap and explain why. When researching the programs that are available around our area, there are not too many, so the best option would be to train the staff in the gap. Ensuring that they have professional development in the ages that they will work with and ensuring that they are comfortable working with these ages. Generate a question that you might ask about your identified need and to whom. One question would ask parents if they feel like their children/adolescents are benefiting from the therapy that they are receiving. If not, what could we do better? I believe this would be better done in an interview format. I would also ask the staff members, what are you missing in the training you have received to be able to give your clients the best service? An interview is a good choice for conducting needs assessments; it can be conducted like a questionnaire, though you may have fewer respondents because it takes longer. (Dudley, 2020)
