Use amateur English to answers those questions bellow. 1. Cecilia is 25 years old with a pervasive developmental delay. Cecilia has a lovely smile and is quite social. Her comprehension is about a 13-year-old. Cecilia is kind and goes it a day program 5 days a week. She always arrives late for the program because she likes to sleep in. Cecilia moves at Cecilia’s pace. Cecilia loves food and will often ask “can I have some” or “can I borrow a dollar for to a slice of pizza”. At the day program she participates in every activity art, dance, bowling she does not require any assistance and the clients enjoy her company. Cecilia is starting has been accepted into the employment program for clients with disabilities. 2. Jonathan is a 35-year-old male. Jonathan loves to read, and he takes the bus independently to his day program. Jonathan enjoys conversations. Jonathan is quite overweight, and his mom would like him to lose a little weight to manage his health better. Due to the weight concerns when Jonathan is out, he is sweating quite a bit Jonathan has Tourette’s where he will create certain formations, alongside this he may curse or curse repeatedly. He always apologies when the Tourette’s are acting up. Jonathan’s comprehension is of a 14 yrs. old. 3. James is 25 years old diagnosed on the Autism spectrum. James speaks quickly it can almost be difficult to understand him. James is socially awkward and will not often make direct eye contact. James does many special Olympic sports. James is fit, tall and takes the bus everywhere, he is quite the adventurer in this regard. James has an amazing photographical memory. James will not intentionally engage in conversation; he will respond or almost speak sideways sometimes to himself. It is difficult to gage his comprehension level but it estimated to be at 19yr old. James’s caregiver would like him to have a paid job to have him build is resume. 4. Amy is a 33 yr old girl with down syndrome. Amy is soft spoken and smiles all day. Amy is easily upset if someone is yelling or says a bad word. Amy helps her mom with laundry and some light chores around the house. As with down syndrome characteristics she is short in stature and has shorter and smaller limbs. Amy has taken the bus only to the store down her street. Amy doesn’t attend any programs except the swimming and bowling club for clients with disabilities. Amy’s mom would like her to find a part time job. Amy has diabetes, she knows how to check her sugar but doesn’t know when to do it. Amy Is well groomed and likes to color. 5. Adam is a 30 yr old male on the Autism spectrum. Adam loves to chatter and often asks personal questions ie. Are you married, where do you live, why don’t you eat bread etc… its can be endless at times. Adam is a busy guy he attends bowling and evening programs, and day programs . He is starting a employment program his mom would like him to have a part time job. Adam takes the bus or skytrain everywhere he is very independent with this. Adam has some anxiety and will be loud and disruptive if he feels anxious, even the sound of the ambulance will create some chaos for Adam. Adam can carry very detailed intelligent conversations. Adam loves to conversate, but his boundaries and anxiety is often a challenge at times. Adam is always on time and his mom said he completes any his chores/responsibilities at home with limited reminders. A schedule works well for Adam. Daily Assignment for Lesson 1: 1. Go through each case study on Case study Handout and determine a list of goals these clients may have. Be sure to consider all areas of their life. You do not need to break down the goals, just make a list of goals. – ie. Joe can work on time management. – Joe can work on eye contact. 2. The Fun part! Determine a paid or volunteer goal for each case study. Ie. Joe goal is to find a paid job. 3. Based on Joe’s case study he can work as a .. window washer because….etc 4.
