CASE STUDY The time of year has arrived for Mr Jaco Botha to conduct a formal audit of the health and safety performance of JHB Incorporated. To do this audit, Mr Botha will be looking at every aspect of the company’s health and safety performance over the past year, including any accidents, incidents, and instances of ill-health which have been identified and reported accordingly. He will also need to analyse all of the control measures for reducing hazards and risks to his staff as well as members of the public, and how effective those measures have been in their aim. Although this audit will be a long and detailed process, Mr Botha sees the benefit of getting a holistic view of the companys health and safety standards in order to find out what processes or procedures need improving or can be maintained. His main concerns regarding health and safety have always been around the number of accidents, incidents and instances of ill-health that are reported, as well as where the organisation stands in terms of the health and safety objectives drafted at the beginning of the year.
