At the beginning of this course, I had a basic understanding of terms like nursing research, research utilization, and evidence-based practice, but I did not fully appreciate how interconnected these concepts are or the role I play in them. As a nurse, I am not only a consumer of research but also a critical evaluator and advocate for practice changes based on solid evidence. I feel more confident in my ability to assess whether research literature is appropriate to support my clinical decisions. I have learned to look for peer-reviewed articles, examine the level of evidence, evaluate the methodology for validity and bias, and use critical appraisal tools to guide my judgment.
