Studies have not conclusively shown that going vegetarian will help you lose weight. You can also gain weight while being vegetarian. Weight loss is all about calories in versus calories burned. So, I would have to say that while a vegetarian may help with obtaining and maintaining a healthier weight it is not directly associated with weight loss.
