Urine dipstick shows 3+ glycosuria and negative ketones. Her pre-pregnancy weight was 120-130 lbs with BMI of 25. She had gained 30 lbs during her pregnancy and loss 14 lbs over the past 2 weeks. Upon assessment, her vitals are: blood pressure 130/80 mmHg, respiratory rate 18 bpm, pulse rate 92 bpm and temperature 36.8 C. She also verbalized experiencing fatigue, excessive thirst and frequent urination. The patient’s past obstetric history includes two spontaneous vaginal delivery of a 7 lbs, 8 oz. male infant at 40 weeks gestation and 6 lbs, 2 oz. female infant at 39 weeks, 7 years and 5 years ago respectively. The patient reports that the children are doing well. She had no family history of diabetes with the exception of one sister who had been also diagnosed with gestational diabetes.
