Original Question

I think agree with both theorist in how they perceive moral development, but I agree most will Gilligan’s theory of moral development. I agree with Gilligan’s theory of moral development because she researched moral development on women where Kohlberg’s studies only focused on boys and men. His research and his theory show too much bias. The Part of Gilligan’s theory that resonates with me is where she talks about women’s moral judgements stemming from compassion and empathy (Gilligan, 2017). I find this to be true. Women are more in tune with our emotions and our feelings than men are. There are exceptions to this philosophy. For example, women are known so be easy going when it comes to making moral judgements for their children, their patients, their students, etc. In the healthcare setting, most women are capable of providing care that stems from their compassion and empathy for their patients and are more willing to defend their patients because of this, whereas men are more capable of caring for patients without having their feelings involved. My issue was with Kohlberg’s blatant bias with his studies where it pertained to women. It is not fair for him to think that men are more advanced with being able to make judgements just because women are more in tune with their emotions. He should have had a more open mind when conducting his studies. please respond to discussion
