The previous open wound area, measuring approximately 11/2 cm in widest diameter, directly over one of the methyl methacrylate beads, was easily discernible. Utilizing meticulous sharp and blunt dissection, the entire anteromedial antibiotic impregnated methacrylate bead construct was removed. Multiple cultures were obtained, including Gram stain of the area, and cultures for aerobic and anaerobic organisms.
