Difficulty processing and organizing sensory information can result in sensory integration dysfunction, renamed sensory processing dysfunction (Miller, Cermak, Lane, Anzalone, & Koomar, 2004; Sensory Processing Disorder Network, 2010). The diagnostic label sensory processing disorder includes three categories: (1) sensory modulation difficulties (sensory overresponsivity, sensory underresponsivity, and sensory seeking/craving), (2) sensory discrimination difficulties, and (3) sensory-based motor difficulties, for example, postural disorders and dyspraxia (Miller et al., 2004; Miller, Robinson, & Moulton, 2004).
