Baseline data indicates Joseph is able to decode 40 words per minute, read 25 sight words, and is able to read one-syllable, short and long vowel words. Essential accommodations to support his performance include extra time to respond and complete assignments, small group instruction, check for understanding, and shortened texts. IEP Goal: In 36 instructional weeks, using decoding skills and oral practice within a 3rd-grade passage, Joseph will read 70 words per minute with fewer than 10 errors.
