Reply to your peer’s below in 100-150 words include in-text citations and one reference between 2023-2025. Immune dysfunctions occur when the body initially fights or attacks itself. Up to 10% of the world’s population lives with an autoimmune disease or immune dysfunction. Normally, your body’s immune system acts as a roadblock against diseases. However, when you are battling immune dysfunction, your body is unable to effectively fight off infections. The immune system typically sends antibodies to attack foreign cells. When the body is in a state of immune dysfunction, it is no longer able to fight off these foreign cells. This leaves the body vulnerable to invaders such as bacteria or viruses (ClevelandClinic, 2024). There are several different types of immune deficiency syndromes or dysfunctions. Symptoms will vary based on the specific type of immune dysfunction the patient is experiencing. patients with immune dysfunctions experience fatigue, muscle soreness, body temperature changes, night sweats, hair loss, and swollen lymph nodes(NIH. 2024). Examples of immune dysfunction disorders include Lupus, cancer, and multiple sclerosis. Unfortunately, patients diagnosed with these disorders experience many hardships due to disease progression. Both emotionally and financially, it can be draining. Daily life can become unbearable due to pain and stress on the body; even simple tasks become difficult to complete. Families and friends often become a necessary support system for those experiencing these types of challenges. Reference Cleveland Clinic medical. (2024, December 5).
