Chief complaint/History of Present Illness: Owen Melena, a 54-year-old, arrived in the ER this morning after his wife drove him from their family doctor’s office. Owen has been a heavy drinker since his teenage years but has been consuming more in the last year due to losing his job. He saw his family doctor today as he was felt lethargic and light-headed; due to his heavy alcohol use his doctor wants to admit him until he is ready to go to rehab. Past Medical History: Other than large alcohol use Owen has no other medical issues. He fractured his ankle in an MVC 3 years ago and had an uneventful recovery. You note he broke his ankle while driving intoxicated. Owen also is a Ippd smoker. He weighs 75 kg. 1.
