Description of the situation Last month, Zariyah had shown interest in dramatic play. Today, in the kitchen corner, as soon as we added some elements in kitchen area for pretend cooking, Zariyah came in excited and started cooking for us. Observation Zariyah approached the kitchen corner, grabbed the yellow strings (pasta). “Yummy pasta!” I said. “Yum, yum”, she added. She grabbed the tong with her right hand, tried to squeeze to grasp a portion of pasta and carefully put them on the plate. As the strings were tangled, thereby making big portions when she serves in a tiny plate, she then used her hand to separate them so she can put the right amount of pasta on the plate. Once again, she grabbed the tong to pick up the pretend meatballs (pompoms) and decorated her pasta serving. “Wow, is it ready yet?” I asked her. She nodded and smiled at me before offering me. We pretended to eat it and after that Zariyah combined all the left over pasta and kept it in the cupboard.
