Respond to your peers post in 100-150 words and include one reference. Wonderful post this week. Comfort is a necessity throughout life, and it is a key element in nursing care for the patient at the end of life. A particular human need and a state related to the experience and culture of the person at the end of life constitute the target of attention and nursing intervention, a very relevant indicator of the quality of health care. I once cared for a patient who was approaching the end of her life. Overwhelmed by fear and a profound sense of solitude, she often opened about her regrets and dreams that remained unfulfilled. Instead of offering empty reassurances or diverting the conversation, I chose to sit quietly with her, listening intently to her stories and honoring the depth of her feelings. I made it clear that it was perfectly natural to experience such emotions and that she need not face them alone. This poignant experience beautifully illuminated the essence of empathy, a lesson that has remained with me throughout my career. Reference: Pereira, R. a. M., & Ribeiro, P. C. P. S. V. (2023).
