This is what we had to do: Thinking back to the client/student you introduced in Module 2, develop one communication goal and one social goal for the individual. We are now working on the use of his AAC device independently. Social Goal Client will interact with the same toy a peer is playing with for at least 15 seconds. Client will do this for at least 75% of opportunities over 30 consecutive sessions. Example: client will put marble into marble run. Step 1: Client will interact with the same toy as a peer nearby. Step 2: client will then share the same toy a peer is using. Step 3: client takes turns exchanging the toy back and forth Communication goal Client will increase mands using his AAC device without engaging in reduction behaviors to at least 75% accuracy across 30 consecutive sessions. Example: BT will model use of AAC device and client will then select the correct button on his AAC device that BT modeled. Step 1: BT will model use of AAC device and client will then select the correct button on his AAC device that BT modeled with at least a 5 second latency. Step 2: Client will select the correct response after BT uses a gestural prompt to have the client select the correct response. Step 3: Client will independently select the correct response for what he needs using his AAC device. Curriculum checklist is a good assessment to help conduct the usefulness of the play goal created. This will help track what level the client is at and which goals might be helpful in increasing their play skills.
