NTR 3350 As an individual, you will find a journal article that is relevant to the lifecycle being covered that week in class – a human study, original research (no reviews or meta-analysis) and published within the last five (5) years. You will read the journal article and develop a summary that will be presented via the Discussion Board on Canvas. Expect to spend 3-5 hours on this Leader Assignment What are you supposed to do? Carefully reading the journal article while taking notes on the following because you will write a summary/paper for the written portion of the assignment: 1. Is this an appropriate article? a. Relates to the topic in class during the week you are assigned to be journal club leader b. Was published within the last 5 years c. Is original research (not a Review or Meta Analysis) 2. Determine who is the target population. What do you know about them? An explanation of the important characteristics of that population a. Seek information that describes how the target population lifestyle, culture and food affect the client’s health and how to address it. (include in the written report). You may need to conduct brief research of other sources to get this information. b. The report extensively identified the target population, described appropriately how the culture, food and lifestyle impact the issues in the journal article. Reflects on the nutrient or food-related developmental needs of this population and why this particular study is important 3. Summarize article details: a. The title and purpose of the article b.
