Purpose This assignment allows you to individually share your reflection on the teaming process throughout the semester and its role in preparing you for future healthcare practice. You will share feedback from discussions throughout the semester with your team and create goals from now until your next interprofessional team experience. Instructions Review your weekly notes from your team debriefs using the team charter structures. Based on those notes, please reflect on the following items and provide a reflection and conclude it with 2 goals and 3-4 action steps for each goal to address area of opportunity and challenge to prepare you for your next interprofessional experience (whether it be in the classroom, clinical hours, or paid work experiences). In your reflection: Identify your individual strengths, weaknesses (areas for growth), opportunities, and challenges that were demonstrated through your team’s work in this course in the area of roles and responsibilities (“Use the knowledge of one’s own role and team members’ expertise to address individual and population health outcomes.”), communication (“Communicate in a responsive, responsible, respectful, and compassionate manner with team members.”), and teams and teamwork (“Apply values and principles of the science of teamwork to adapt one’s own role in a variety of team settings.”). As you reflect, consider the following skills: Collaborate with others within and outside of the health system to improve health outcomes. Incorporate complementary expertise to meet health needs including the determinants of health. Use communication tools, techniques, and technologies to enhance team function, well-being, and health outcomes. Practice active listening that encourages ideas and opinions of other team members. Use constructive feedback to connect, align, and accomplish team goals. Practice team reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making. Apply interprofessional conflict management methods, including identifying conflict cause and addressing divergent perspectives. Reflect on self and team performance to inform and improve team effectiveness. Reflect on team development, team adaptation and change, and team dynamics to effectively accomplish goals. Share team accountability for outcomes. Reflect on the goals you set for yourself in week 1 (discussion #1) of this course. Did you meet these goals? What growth have you seen in these areas? What do you still need to work on? Based on your reflection on these skills during this semester, what learning or key takeaways will you bring with you into future interprofessional experiences (courses, curricular/co-curricular learning activities, supervised clinical hours, and healthcare practice)? Reflect on your role in the team in designing learning content for your peers (the two team presentations). Consider your strengths, teamwork skills, areas for growth in each of the following steps in the process: Development of the learning objectives for the presentation. Development/design of the material. Development of interactive/engaging components for your audience. Delivery of the presentation. Write 2 SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound) Goals and 2-3 action steps to meet those goals to build on your strengths and address your areas for growth, opportunities, and challenges in interprofessional education and nursing practice.
