Going through nursing school, making it to graduation, pressure of state board exams can be very overwhelming. For many new graduate nurses transitioning from being a student nurse into a big world of professional practice feels like being thrown into deep water without knowing how to swim. New nurses often end up feeling very not confident, anxious, and fear making mistakes in the real-world clinical setting. This capstone project will expand how mentorship programs that life vest that helps new graduates not only stay afloat but thrive. Through a very precise review of recent literature from trusted databases, we evaluated the experiences of new nurses and the transformational role that mentorship programs have ensuring a smooth, stress free transition of new nurses into professional practice. We have selected the most relevant 8 research articles that appeared to have relevant studies for this project, upon our review we discovered that there is consistent evidence that mentorship provides crucial guidance during the most challenging period of a nurse’s early career. The research shows that mentorship programs provide significant stress and anxiety reduction while serving as a skill, communication, professional and confidence booster. Based on the outcomes of the research studies it showed that The findings clearly demonstrate that mentorship programs are highly effective in easing the transition from student to practicing nurse. According to Gularte-Rinaldo et al. (2022), 64.2% of newly graduated nurses in the Be1Support1 mentorship program experienced increased self-confidence, and 66.2% found mentorship helpful in their transition to professional practice. The most significant benefits were observed in nurses who had mentorship lasting 1-2 years, with 84.2% reporting improved problem-solving and communication skills. Similarly, Mínguez Moreno et al. (2023) found that mentorship reduces stress, strengthens clinical decision-making, and improves overall job retention and satisfaction.New nurses who receive consistent, open, easy and judgment free support, most importantly in the first two years of their independent practice report stronger communication and clinical skills, better decision-making, and more quality patient care. These programs don’t just help nurses perform better and be a better nurse, they help them feel like fit into their new role, which is extremely important for the new graduates to gain confidence in their career choice. Nurses who feel supported are more likely to stay in the profession, reducing turnover and improving patient care outcomes. However, not only new nurses need support. Our research shows that older highly experienced nurses face a struggle morphing into new progressive technology of electronic health records (EHRs) and various digital tools. This gap can lead to frustration, miscommunication, and resistance to change in the workplace. However, with targeted training, peer support, and leadership engagement, even the most reluctant users can become confident with new technology. Creating a supportive, collaborative environment is key to ensuring all nurses—regardless of age or experience—can grow together. In conclusion, this capstone project strongly supports mentorship as a powerful and necessary strategy for strengthening the nursing workforce. By nurturing new graduates through mentorship and helping seasoned nurses adapt to modern healthcare technologies, we can build a more confident, connected, and capable nursing community. The result is not only better nurse retention and job satisfaction—but also safer, more compassionate care for every patient. REPHRASE SO IT DOENT GET RECOGNIZED AS AI
