This is my reflection and orientation week 1 Welcome to INC6 I was excited and nervous for my first class of my INC6 as it was in a new environment and new setting at UCH. When i see Belinda as a lecturer who was also my INC 5 unit convenor last summer semester, when i see the familiar faces of my friends and lecturer i was relaxed. In my class there are about 14/15 group of students in the clinical skills room where we were supposed to have our rest of all seminars and classes for this INC6 unit. I feel like this INC6 unit will be challenging, overwhelmed, and fast paced units as this is the final unit of my 3 year nursing degree and in the next semester i will be working as a super new registered nurse where i will be working on my own which makes me overwhemeled. At the first session of my seminar, belinda gaves us a overview of orientation of what we are expecting and what are we doing at this unit, she make us familar for each and every things ( clinical labs, simulation room, seminars rooms). At the clinical labs, we were familiar with the case scenario of Sam Green and there was a PRN Pain medication chart that we need to given as per the scenario. I came to learn abot the clinical and on hand practical skills such as administration of S4 AND S8 medications such as fentalyn, morphine, oxycodone, and diazapam. I practice medication administration through IV line, dose calculation using the drug calculation policy, gone through the Australian injectable drug book for ensure safe and effective practice of administration of S4 and S8 medications. My group has decided to recall our basic foundation knowledge and gone through the 5 rights and 3 checks which is very important. I adhere to the ACT Canberra hospital guidelines of administration of correct ways and legal policy incluing safety checks of 2 RNS which is safe and minimize risk of medication errors including responsible for S8 keys, correct documentaion, sign in and off sheets of all medications. Overall, my clinical lab learning expeienece was recalling and polishing of all INCS practical and theoretical knowledge bring it together nad thinking of board picture as a future RN aligh with the NMBA standard practice. In future, i will continue to develop my ability in foundations skills to implement safe and effective person centered approch aligining with policies and guidlines of hospital settings.
